Country Chic Easter Lamb Wall Decoration

There’s something irresistibly charming about handmade Easter décor—especially when it’s crafted from wood and finished with soft, rustic details. This sweet wooden lamb is a perfect spring project: simple, serene, and full of farmhouse personality. Using your Proxxon scroll saw and a bit of white FolkArt acrylic paint, you can create a timeless piece that works beautifully in tiered trays, mantel displays, or Easter centerpieces.

Materials and Equipment:

• ½" or ¾" hardwood, MDF, or Baltic birch plywood

• ¼” hardwood, MDF, or Baltic birch plywood

• Proxxon Bandsaw MBS/EP

• Proxxon Bench Drill Press TMB 115

• Proxxon scroll saw

• Easter Lamb Pattern 

• White FolkArt acrylic paint

• Twine or jute cord

• Painter’ tape

Let's Make the Easter Lamb

Step 1: Prepare and Transfer the Pattern

1. Print the Easter Lamb Pattern.

2. Mount the patterns on blanks. Cover one side of the blank with painter's tape. Mist the back side of the patterns with spray adhesive, and mount on the taped blank. The painter's tape made removal of the patterns easy without leaving any sticky residue. 

   
   
   

Step 2: Cut the Lamb Shape 

1. Use the bandsaw mounted with the extra narrow scroll saw band to cut out the lamb.

2. Take your time—let the blade do the work.

3. Once the outline is complete, lightly sand the edges to remove fuzzies and refine the silhouette.

   
   
   

Step 3: Cut the Heart Charm

1. Fit the scroll saw with a fine‑tooth blade suitable for tight curves.

2. Use the bench drill press to drill a pilot hole for the scroll saw blade in the interior heart shape.

   
    

3. Drill the small hole above the heart for hanging the charm.

4. Use the scroll saw to cut out the heart charm.

5. Note: A ¼" disc cut from a large dowel rod can serve as a blank for the heart charm.

Step 4: Smooth and Prep the Surface

1. Sand the entire lamb with 120 grit, then 220 grit.

2. Round over the edges slightly for a softer look.

3. Wipe away dust with a dry cloth.

Step 5: Paint with White FolkArt Acrylic

White FolkArt acrylic paint gives this lamb its clean, bright, springtime look.

1. Apply the first coat using a flat brush, following the grain.

   
   
   

2. Let it dry completely.

3. Add a second coat for full coverage.

4. Optionally, dry‑brush a tiny bit of light gray around the edges for dimension, or add a soft blush of pink inside the ears.

Step 5: Add the Rustic Bow and Heart Charm

This little detail brings the whole piece to life.

1. Cut a length of twine and tie it around the lamb’s neck.

2. Add the small wooden heart charm.

3. Secure the heart with a dab of wood glue if needed.

Ways to Use Your Wooden Easter Lamb

• Add it to a tiered tray with moss, eggs, and mini carrots.

• Display it on a mantel with spring greenery.

• Use it as a centerpiece accent for Easter brunch.

• Pair it with wooden bunnies or chicks for a full farmhouse set.

Farmhouse Style: Crafting a Country Chic Cow Wall Hanging

This country chic cow is a moo-velous project for honing your skills at cutting out shapes—as well as using lumber scraps that all woodworkers seem to accumulate.

Supplies and Equipment Used:

• Lumber scraps ¼" to ¾" thick—hardwood, MDF, plywood, etc.
• 24" twine or narrow ribbon
• 12" ribbon
• Acrylic paints
• Picture hanging hardware
• Liquid wood adhesive
• Country Chic Cow pattern
• Proxxon Scroll Saw DS 460

• Proxxon Bench Drill Press TBM 115

Step-by-step Instructions for the Country Chic Cow Wall Hanging:

1. Print the Country Chic Cow pattern. Mount the pattern pieces on the wood blanks. Cover one side of the blanks with painter's tape. Mist the back side of the pattern with spray adhesive, and mount on the taped blank. The painter's tape made removal of the pattern easy without leaving any sticky residue.
   
   
   
2. Cut out the shapes using the bandsaw or scroll saw.
   
   
   
3. Drill holes using the bench drill press fitted with a 5/32" drill bit. Place a scrap of waste wood under the blank to minimize tear out. Set the adjustable fence to maximize drilling accuracy.
   
   
   
4. Sand edges of hooves and body using the disc sander.
   
   
   
5. Sand the edges of the head using the Delta sander. I use the Delta sander mounted in the Precision Vice FMZ so both hands are free to manipulate the piece I'm sanding.
   
   
   
6. Now it's time to paint the pieces. Paint the entire surface of the body and the head white, and the hooves black. Set aside to dry.
7. When the paint is dry, sketch areas on the head and body for black accents and for the nose on the head. Paint the sketched areas.
   
   
   
8. When the paint is dry, attach picture hanging hardware to the back of the body piece.
   
   
   
9. Using liquid wood adhesive, glue the head to the body.
   
   
   
10. Tie the hooves to the body using twine.
    
    
    
11. Glue a bow to the head.
    
    
    
12. Enjoy your country chic cow wall hanging.

How to Make the Perfect Valentine's Day Country Chic Peg People Decoration

I'm never without holiday decoration since they are so easy and fun to make with Proxxon MICROMOT tools. With Valentine's Day right around the corner, these Country Chic Valentine Peg People are just right for the day.

Here are the supplies and equipment I used:

• 1" x ¾" x 12" blank (I used scraps that I had on hand, but you can easily scale this project.)
• 2" length of  1" dowel rod
• 3" length of 1/8" dowel rod
• 2" x 2" x 1/8" blank
• Liquid wood glue
• Acrylic paints
• Twine
• Proxxon Bandsaw MBS/E or Proxxon Table Saw FET
• Proxxon Scroll Saw DS 460
• Proxxon Delta Sander OZI/E
• Proxxon Professional Rotary Tool IBS/E
• Proxxon Flexishaft 110/P

Let's make the Valentine Peg People:

1. Cut the body blanks to length using the bandsaw or table saw. Mine are 6" and 5¼" long.
   
   
   
2. Cut two ¾" lengths of 1" dowel for heads. These need to be as long as the body blank is thick.
3. Mark the center of the end of the body blanks.
   
   
   
4. Mark the center of the height of the dowel heads. Use the rotary tool with the flexishaft to drill ~½" hole in the bodies and heads.
   
   
   
5. Cut the heart from the 2" x 2" x 1/8" blank using the scroll saw. Cover one side of the blank with painter's tape. Mist the back side of the pattern with spray adhesive, and mount on the taped blank. The painter's tape makes removal of the pattern easy without leaving any sticky residue. 
   
   
   
6. Sand the edges of all pieces using the Delta sander. I use the Delta sander mounted in the Precision Vice FMZ so both hands are free to manipulate the piece I'm sanding.
   
   
   
7. Apply the finish of your choice and let dry thoroughly. I painted mine with acrylic paints.
   
   
   
8. Cut 1" pegs from the 1/8" dowel for attaching the heads to the bodies with liquid wood glue.
   
   
   
9. Tie the peg couple together with twine and glue the heart on top of the twine.

Instructions

4. Sand intricate areas of the antlers with the cordless belt sander.
   
   
   
5. Use the bench drill press to drill holes in hooves and body. Placing a piece of waste wood under the piece helps minimize tearout.
   
   
   
6. Paint the pieces with acrylic paint. 
   
   
   
7. Paint eyes on the face and glue the nose in place.
   
   
   
8. Glue the face to the body/antler piece.
   
   
   
9. Add stitching lines to face and body with gel roller pen.
   
   
   
10. Stamp snowflakes on body.
    
    
    
11. Attach the hooves to the body with chenille stems. Tie bows around chenille stem legs above the hooves.
    
    
    
12. Glue neck bow with jingle bell in place.
    
    
    
13. Add hardware for hanging.

Instructions

1. Cover one side of the blank with painter's tape. Mist the back side of the pattern with spray adhesive, and mount on the taped blank.  The painter's tape makes removal of the pattern easy without leaving any sticky residue. 
   
   
   
2. Cut out the shapes on the bandsaw or the Proxxon Scroll Saw DS 460.
   
   
   
3. Before removing the pattern, mark the holes for hanging the feet.
   
   
   
4. Sand the edges of all the pieces. I use the Delta sander mounted in the Precision Vice FMZ.
   
   
   
5. Use the drill press to drill the holes marked in Step 3. Use a piece of waste wood under the piece to help prevent tear out.
   
   
   
6. Finish the wall hanging by painting the pieces and assembling the hen. Glue the googly eyes, bow, wings and beak to the body with wood adhesive. Use twine to attach the feet to the body. Attach hanging hardware to back of country chic hen.
7. Enjoy!!
