How to create a table for your Art Studio

How to Make a Table for a Art Studio

Finished table top

This project was to be a very simple one but at several points turned into a nightmare.
I will explain as I go. Not everything  goes as  planned. Sometimes, the worst mistakes can be
turned in to good projects.

Tools required.
Kapro Laser nail gripper

Supplies Used
Sheet music from any craft store
Sheet of add on décor stickers

Deco Mod Podge
Polyurethane Sealer
Glitter, Gold, pink, silver

The first step was to sand the table enough to take off the old varnish.
Out comes my best friend the Proxxon Mini Sander. A Velcro system that holds the sandpaper makes changing sandpapers quick and easy.  I started with a coarse grit and planned to finish with a fine sanding grit for a smooth finish.

This table was in really rough shape but I loved the style and the inlay square in the middle of the top, so I did not want to lose that.

Oops! What should have been easy developed a hitch. Part of the veneer came off.   The wood is very old and dry. Now What?   No time to start a new project so think Misty, think...

Ok, the new plan is to stick the paper  to the table, using  Decoupage  I  adhered the sheet of music to the table top. I think this is going to work.

Now to paint the table

This color came closer than any other to matching the original finish on the table.
Now to start painting.

Looks ok but for a artist studio we would like a little artistic flair happening.

Some sparkle and shine, or some bling as some say.

After several coats, (5) to make sure the glitter is there to stay the table is finished.

Now thats more like it!
You might not want it in your living quarters, or maybe you might!

But it is going to work perfect to hold the guest book in my studio for the up coming tour of artists.

Yeah, those moments of "what now" can throw us for a loop. But good artists, prevail! 😁😂🤣😃
