Who doesn't enjoy a hand-held maze puzzle? Here's the pattern and instructions for making your own.
Supplies and Equipment
- Two pieces 6" x 6" x ¼" MDF or Baltic birch plywood or scraps
- 6" x 6" piece of cleasr acrylic sheet
- Plastic BB pellets
- Maze puzzle pattern
- FolkArt acrylic paint
- Liquid wood adhesive
- Proxxon Scroll Saw DS 460
- Proxxon Bench Drill Press TBM
- Proxxon Bench Circular Saw KS 115
- Proxxon Delta Sander OZI/E
Instructions
- Mount the pattern on one of the 6" x 6" blanks. Cover one side of the blank with painter's tape. Mist the back side of the pattern with spray adhesive, and mount on the taped blank. The painter's tape made removal of the pattern easy without leaving any sticky residue.
- Drill a pilot hole in the waste are of the pattern for inserting the scroll saw blade.
- Insert the scroll saw blade through the pilot hole, and cut out the puzzle pattern.
- Use the bench circular saw to cut puzzle back and acrylic sheet to the same size as the maze.
- Align the three layers, and tape together with painter's tape. Drill the corner screw holes.
- Paint the maze and puzzle back with FolkArt acrylic paints, and let dry.
- Load the pellets into the maze.
- Screw the layers together.
- Challenge yourself to move the pellets from one corner to another. Enjoy!!
