Hello everyone and thank you for stopping by the Proxxon Tools blog today. Tammy here with a fun tutorial for Cinco de Mayo! I created this Ole' banner with wood blanks and the Proxxon Tools Scroll Saw. I thought it would be a fun idea to cut the word Ole' out of the center of the banner pieces to make it look a little bit more interesting. The Proxxon Scroll Saw is so easy to use, you can make your own banner today to celebrate Cinco de Mayo tomorrow.
Supplies:
Wood banner blanks
Adhesive
Sabor Papel Ole' Collection card stock
Sabor Papel Ole' Collection card stock cutouts
Adhesive
Trim
Paper or fabric flowers
Gold leaf pen
Transparency film
Sequins
Directions:
Purchase a cut file from the Silhouette Design Store or use a stencil to trace the outline on the wood.
Use the Proxxon Scroll Saw to cut out the design
Sand any rough edges after cutting out with the Proxxon Delta Sander.
To create the shaker element I used a tape runner to attach a piece of transparency on one side of the wood piece.
I added sequins to the inside of the shaker.
I covered the back of the shaker element with another piece of transparency to keep the sequins inside.
Add card stock on top of transparency to hide edges
Use gold leafing pen to trace around each letter for definition
Add fabric flowers and card stock cutouts for decoration
Hang from string or trim, and you are done!
That was so easy, and I think it turned out really cute. I can't wait to hang it up tomorrow for Cinco de Mayo.
I hope this gives you some ideas on how to create projects using the Proxxon Scroll Saw.
Let's be friends!
