How to Make a Table Decoration of a Cute Easter Rabbit with Eggs

This rabbit and eggs table decoration is sure to be a favorite at Easter. Proxxon tools make it easy and fun to create. The downloadable pattern is included.

Supplies and Equipment for the Rabbit and Eggs Easter decoration

Instructions for making the Rabbit and Eggs Easter decoration

  1. Print out the rabbit and eggs pattern.
  2. Cover blanks for rabbit and eggs with painter's tape.

  3. Mist the back side of the pattern with spray adhesive, and mount on the taped blank. The painter's tape makes removal of the pattern easy without leaving any sticky residue.

  4. Cut out the shapes using either the bandsaw or the scroll saw.

  5. Sand the edges of the cutouts on the disc sander.

  6. Measure, mark, and drill holes in the sides of the eggs for the dowels rods. I varied the angle that my eggs would stand. Secure the eggs in the machine vice and use the adjustable fence for accuracy. Use the bench drill press to drill the holes.

  7. Use the depth gauge to ensure holes are consistent in depth.

  8. Mark the desired position of the rabbit and eggs on the base blank, and drill holes for the dowel rods. Use the bench drill press, adjustable fence, and depth gauge for accuracy.
  9. Optional: Coat the the pieces with gesso prior to painting. Gesso primes the surface for the acrylic paints. I find it especially effective when working with MDF.

  10. Paint the base, rabbit, and eggs. After the gesso, I painted the eggs with FolkArt Pearl Gold Brushed Metal paint, and gave each egg a final coat of a different color of FolkArt Glitterific paint. The rabbit was painted white, and the base was painted with FolkArt Color Shift paint.

  11. Glue the dowel rods into each egg and the rabbit. Gluing the rods only in the figures makes disassembling and storage easy.
  12. Add a handful of Easter grass and your decoration is ready for display.

How To Create a Spring Sign

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here to show you how to create a Spring sign.  With Spring finally on it's way, it's time to start thinking about Spring decorating.

I have had this wood panel in my stash for awhile and thought it would be a great idea to upcycle it.  Using the Delta Sander I sanded it before painting.

I painted the panel first with white gesso, and while still slightly wet, I painted on a layer of purple  Plaid Paint.  Mixing it with the gesso softened the color.

Once dry, I again used the Delta Sander  to lightly re-sand the panel so some of the wood texture would show.

Die cut a rabbit from cardstock.  Add her to the left side of the sign, adding a wiggly eye and a cottonball tail.   Die cut several butterflies and punch some Easter Eggs from assorted Rinea Foiled Papers.

Die cut SPRING from Rinea Foiled Papers.  Mat each letter with cardstock and place on the panel.  Used the Kapro Measure Mate to line up the letters on the panel.

Create some grass and add over the Easter Eggs.

Finish by adding some tiny eggs amongst the strands of grass.

Happy Easter with Hot Wire Cutter

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today with an Easter Egg.  Easter will be here shortly, but you still have time to create some Easter décor.  If you haven't tried to Hot Wire Cutter, you will love it.

I created a stencil using my Cricut then taped it to a panel of Smoothfoam.  Using the Hot Wire Cutter, I cut around the stencil.  Smoothfoam cuts like butter with the Hot Wire Cutter and I cut this egg in only a few minutes.

After removing the stencil, this is my Easter Egg.

The Easter Egg was painted with Gold Plaid Metallic Paint.

I placed the stencil back on the Easter Egg and added more color with additional Plaid Metallic Paints.

Finally, I added some dew drops around the Easter Egg.  There are so many different egg possibilities when you create with the Hot Wire Cutter.

Happy Easter.

Thanks for stopping by.

Easter Egg Nail Art

Hello friends. Larissa here with you today with a super fun project. I have seen nail art all over and have been wanting to try it. Since I am starting to get ready to decorate for Easter I decided I would try it. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be and it was tons of fun. I want to hammer nails into everything now. :)

Supplies you will need:
Proxxon Tools Scroll Saw
Piece of wood
Nails
Hammer
Embroidery Thread

I used the Scroll Saw to cut my wood the size I wanted it. The wood was already smooth but if you needed to you could smooth the edges with a piece of sand paper.

With a pencil I lightly drew the image of the egg I wanted on the wood.
I began hammering the nails around the egg.

Once I was done and all the nails were in the wood I took my Embroidery Thread and wrapped it around each nail back and forth.

Once I had the desired pattern I tied off the thread in a small knot around one of the nails.
This one was left unpainted as I am going for a more natural chic look for my mantel this year. But think of the colors you could use both paint and thread. And thing of the nail art projects. Go raid your hubbies workshop and grab and hammer and some nails and get to pounding.

Hope you enjoyed my post today.
