First I cut the bone out of a thin piece of plywood using my Scroll Saw.

I then smoothed the edges and any rough spots with the Delta Sander.

I then applied 2 coats of the Black Chalk paint to cover the bone. Once is was dry I used my White Chalk Pen and wrote the words out across the front and outlined it with some white dots.
I also added a bunch of felt flowers to the top and adhered them with hot glue.

I placed a little hook in the back so it can be hung.

Felt Asst Colors
Ribbon

First off as always I draw whatever it is I am going to be cutting out of the wood. I cut the sides using the Table Saw and the corners using the Scroll Saw. I could have done it all with the Scroll Saw but I had them both sitting right there so I just played around.

Save the Mermaids

Hello friends. Larissa here with you today with a handmade wall decor piece Save the Mermaids.
I made this for my daughter since she loves mermaid things.

I took a piece of plywood and drew a mermaid tale on it with a pencil.  I then cut it out using my scroll-saw. Once I was done I sanded the edges so they would not be rough.

I then painted the tale using Plaid paint. I used a couple of different colors to give it a two-toned look.

I let the paint completely dry.
Once dry I took a small paint brush and wrote the words out using black paint.

I added a few silver stars around the tale.

Acrylic Paint Black, Aqua and Turquoise

Plywood
Paint Brushes
Silver Stars
Liquid Adhesive

I hope you enjoyed my post today, Have a wonderful day friends.

I Love You A Latte

Hello friends. Larissa here with you today. There is something about chalkboard signs that I love. Then you throw in a verse on Coffee and it makes it even better. Today I cut a piece of wood for a chalkboard sign for my coffee bar.

I used:
Proxxon Tools Scroll Saw DSH/E
A scrap piece of plywood
Chalkboard Paint
Various Colors of Acrylic paint
Paint Brushes

I used the Scroll Saw to cut a circle type edge on the corners of the piece of plywood. I did not draw it out I just eyeballed it. Which you will see my eyes must have been off a little. :)

I painted 2 coats of black chalk paint on the wood.

I let it dry completely which actually took about 20 to 30 minutes. I then did the lettering and finished off with painting the coffee cups.

I let it dry completely a few hours and then added it to my coffee bar.

Let me tell you. This was so easy and I am really loving this Scroll Saw. I did use paint on this board but you could very well use chalk pens and change the saying on it regularly.

I hope you enjoyed my post today.
Have a wonderful day friends.

Easter Egg Nail Art

Hello friends. Larissa here with you today with a super fun project. I have seen nail art all over and have been wanting to try it. Since I am starting to get ready to decorate for Easter I decided I would try it. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be and it was tons of fun. I want to hammer nails into everything now. :)

Supplies you will need:
Proxxon Tools Scroll Saw
Piece of wood
Nails
Hammer
Embroidery Thread

I used the Scroll Saw to cut my wood the size I wanted it. The wood was already smooth but if you needed to you could smooth the edges with a piece of sand paper.

With a pencil I lightly drew the image of the egg I wanted on the wood.
I began hammering the nails around the egg.

Once I was done and all the nails were in the wood I took my Embroidery Thread and wrapped it around each nail back and forth.

Once I had the desired pattern I tied off the thread in a small knot around one of the nails.
This one was left unpainted as I am going for a more natural chic look for my mantel this year. But think of the colors you could use both paint and thread. And thing of the nail art projects. Go raid your hubbies workshop and grab and hammer and some nails and get to pounding.

Hope you enjoyed my post today.

How to make a cute St Patrick's Day Wooded Wreath

Hello friends. I am here today to show you how I created this cute little wooden St Patrick's Day wreath. This is a some what easy project if you have the right tools.

I started off cutting the wreath out of a thin piece of wood. I used the amazing Proxxon Scroll Saw DSH/E for this. I used a a green marker to draw the outline of the wreath on the wood first and then followed the outline to cut it out. Ok I will admit as I did not take pictures of this but this was my 2nd try. The first one was a little jagged and not what I wanted. That is the beauty of doing this kind of projects you can always do it over. :)
For the middle circle you can use a router to cut it out.  I didn't need to do this because the wood was smooth but if there are any rough edges make sure to sand them.

I grabbed a few different paints for this project. I didn't want a deep green so after digging through my stash I came up with a Milk Paint and Dye. I also used a Gel Medium to add a little more to the paint.
Because this was a light colored paint I gave this little wreath three coats to cover it completely.

After it was completely dry I added a few embellishments. These Shamrocks and Letters can be picked up and your local craft store.
I placed the letters and shamrocks around the wreath.

I am loving the way this little thing came out. It is perfect to use inside or out from year to year.
What do you think?

Supplies Used:
Proxxon Scroll Saw DSH/E
Thin piece of ply wood
Embellishments (Letters and Shamrocks)

Simple Last Minute Gift

Hello friends. Larissa here with you today showing you how I made this supe simple last minute gift idea.

I found this little crate in the Dollar Section at my local craft store. The boards were a little loose. I used some glue to straighten them up decided to use it as a cute little container that can actually sit on a desk to hold the gift.
Supplies I used:
Crate container

After gluing all the boards together and it dried I used the Delta Sander and sanded everything smooth.

I could not decide which color to paint it. The person I am giving it to has a lot of natural wood pieces in her house. Everything is white and natural. So I decided to just add some satin dye to it to give it a nice finish and leave it the natural color.

I filled the crate up with a favorite glue and will place it in a cute gift bag.

When you don't have a lot of time for a last minute gift these little crates are perfect. You could also fill them with candy or even Tea Bags. My friend is a crafter and uses glue like cazy so this was perfect.

Hope you enjoyed my post today. Have a Merry Christmas everyone.

Let it Snow

Hello friends. Larissa here today with a snowman made from wood.

Supplies Used:
Proxxon Scroll Saw
White, Red and Green Paint
Chalk Paint in Licorice and Blood Orange Sorbet
Drill
Sandpaper
Paint Brushes

I cut the snowman out of a piece of thin plywood.  I then drilled holes around the edge of the snowman because I planned on putting lights in them.

I took a piece of sandpaper and went around the edges really quick just to make sure there were no rough edges. Then I painted the snowman and hat using some paint I had on my shelf.

I have tried 3 different light sets I had here in my studio and have had no luck with them working. So tomorrow back to the city I drive to find me a set of lights that will work. :)

Hope you enjoyed my post. I know you can do this too. I didn't use a pattern for the snowman I just drew it out on the plywood before I started cutting.

Have a wonderful day friends.

Halloween Wooden Wreath

Hello friends. Larissa here with you today. So I am still workig on Halloween decor. Today I made this fun wooden Halloween Wreath. I will explain what happen as I go.

For this project I used:
Proxxon Delta Sander
Proxxon Scroll SawWooden Bats
Thin piece of wood for the wreath
Paint: Orange, Black, White, Light Pink
Different sized brushes
Hot Glue

So to start out I used my Scroll Saw to cut the wreath. Unfortunately I did not have the ability to take a picture of this since I was working on it by myself and no one was home to help me take photos while I cut.:)

I used the Delta Sander to smooth the edges of the wreath and the bats.

The edges were pretty rough and since the wood is really thin I didn't apply very much pressure as I was afraid of sanding too much off.
I then painted the wreath with two coats of orange acrylic paint and the bats with one coat of black.

.

Once the bats dried which really didn't take that long, I added the faces with a detailed brush.

I attached the bats to the wreath with hot glue. And it fit in the spot I was hoping it would on my wall.

I hope you enjoyed my project today, even though I left a few pictures out. I am still shaking my head on that one. :)

Have a wonderful day friends.

Boo Decor

Hello friends, Larissa here with you today. With all the holidays coming up I have decided to begin my DIY decor. Today I took three wooden blocks I previously had cut to make a Boo decor piece.

Using the Delta Sander  I sanded the edges smooth.

Using a Gel Medium I painted on a thin coat on the block.

I pre-cut 3 pieces of Halloween theme pattern paper and laid them on top of each block while the Gel Medium was still wet. I did the blocks one at a time since the Gel Medium needs to remain wet.

Once all three blocks were finished and dried and all the bubbles were out I took some black paint and paint the letters on each to spell the word BOO.

You can stack them on top of each other or side by side. I did not have the correct ribbon but I really wanted to wrap them in black tulle or ribbon and tie a bow at the top. Who knows I may end of doing it before it sits on my table for the season. :)

Hope you enjoyed my post. Have a wonderful crafty day.
