Believe Christmas Sled

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today using Proxxon tools to alter a Christmas sled.

I found this sled at a garage sale and knew it needed some love!    I started by sanding it with the Delta Sander before painting it with Plaid Paint

Once dry, I decided to use the Power Carver to add details along the sides of the sled.

Placing a stencil on the base, I added a brick pattern with modeling paste.

Once dry, I spritzed the sled with Fireworks! Lady Bug Shimmery Craft Spray.  Some detailing was added with white paint.

I had a metal word which I sanded with the Pensander so paint would adhere.

Believe was painted with gold paint.  While waiting for it to dry, I added assorted papers from my stash to create my design.  Pointsettias and leaves were adhered, then Believe was added across the sled.

What do you think?  Are you ready for Christmas yet?

Review of the Pensander

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today sharing a review of the Pensander.

The Pensander is approximately 6" in length and is easily handled like a pen.  And weighing less than one half pound, there is no strain on your hand or wrist when used for extensive periods.  The Pensader is perfect for small areas or small projects.

This mini sander has a linear sanding motion and operates at 8,000 strokes per minute.  There are four sanding attachments with straight shanks and four sanding attachments with angled shanks.  Also included are 3 sheets of adhesive sanding pads in 3 different grits, enough for many projects.

The adhesive pads are cut to fit each shank so you simply remove the adhesive backing and adhere the sanding pad to the shank you are using.

An AC adapter is required and I use the NG 5/E.  It's speed can be controlled for a variety of projects.

Following are several projects on which I've used the Pensander.

How to create fancy mushrooms with Proxxon Tools

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today using Proxxon tools to create a Fancy Mushroom sign.

Supplies:
Plaid Coastal Paint
The Crafter's Workshop Stencil
Imagine Crafts Ink

I started by drawing the pattern on my wood.  Then I used the Scroll Saw to cut the pattern.

I used the Delta Sander to sand the mushrooms.

Next, I used the Pen Sander to get into the tiny areas.

I painted the mushroom bases with Plaid Coastal Paint in Seal Grey.  Then painted the tops green.

I used a stencil with molding paste to create a pattern on the mushroom tops.  Next, I lightly inked the edges.  To finish, I added chipboard elements for a whimsical effect.

Now it sits in front of my front stoop.

Rose and Butterfly Sign

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today with a new summer sign to share.

This pretty sign would look lovely in any room, don't you think?

I used the Delta Sander to sand down a wood sign.

The Pen Sander works great around the edges of the wood sign.

Paint sign with Martha Stewart Home Décor Eggshell paint.

Use a stencil with molding past to create dimension on the sign.  Add color with Folk Art Outdoor Paint in Red Hot, Cabana, and Light Pink.

Make the paint fluid by spritzing with water and allowing it to drip.  Rotate the sign to move the paint around the panel.  Remove some of the excess paint by dabbing the sign with a paper towel.

Once dry, adhere paper flowers.  Insert tiny bunches of flowers.  Punch butterflies from Rinea Foiled Papers in Blush/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper and die cut leaves from Emerald/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper.  Stamp images with Brilliance Ink in Sky Blue.  Stamp a grid pattern with Memento Luxe ink in Love Letters, around the flowers.

Create a hole in the top with the Bench Drill Press.  Tie twine to create a hanger.

Floral Dare Sign

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today with a new sign for 2018.

My word for 2018 is Dare.  Why not take this year and dare..........to try something new...to use existing supplies....to create something different....to connect with someone you've lost sight of, etc, etc........

Begin by taping off the edges of a metal edged sign, then painting it with Plaid paint.

Select embellishments of choice and adhere to the sign.  This is a great way to use items in your stash.  Remember, this project is a Dare.......or a challenge...to do something different.

Selecting assorted clay elements created with Makin's Clay, I used the Pensander to sand the rough edges.  I added a flower atop clay branches and added leaves created from Rinea foiled paper.  Then I added Dare to the corner.

This sign will hang prominently in my craft room reminding me of this year's challenge.

What is your Dare this year?

Stencilled Fall Platter

Hi everyone Steph Ackerman here today working with my Proxxon Tools and Plaid Paints and stencils to create a fun Fall Platter.

The air is cooler.  The days are shorter.  It's officially Fall and time to get ready for the season.

I thought I'd create a Fall Platter that could be used for a variety of purposes from holding holiday decorations.

Perhaps even to hold seasonal fruits and veggies.

I began by sanding the platter with the Delta Sander, definitely my go-too tool for all my projects.

Next, I used the Pen Sander to sand the edges.  This tool is perfect for all those little areas you need to sand.

Once sanded, I began by painting the platter with Folk Art Milk Paint in Tavern Ale.

Next, I painted the bottom of the platter with Folk Art Milk Paint in Absinthe.

I decorated the platter with a Folk Art Stencil.  Using a foam brush, I mixed  Folk Art Brushed Metal Acrylic Paints in  Brushed Copper and Brushed Gold and Folk Art Color Shift Acrylic Paint in Red Flash and Green Flash.    These colors are truly vibrant and showcase the colors of the season.

Once dry, I painted on a layer of Milk Paint Finishing Oil and allowed it to dry.

I love how this platter turned out and see lots of ways to use it this season.
