Happy Fall Sign

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today sharing a new fall project.

The new sign was created with scraps of wood.  Using the Micro Bandsaw, I cut assorted sizes of blocks.  I wasn't too concerned with the sizes.

I used the Disc Sander to sand the edges of each block.

Next, I used Plaid FolkArt Paints to paint each block.

I needed a longer strip of wood to adhere the smaller blocks on, so I cut another strip of wood using the Micro Bandsaw again.

Next, I used the Bench Drill Press to drill holes in the ends of the strip.

I glued burlap to the panel, then glued the smaller blocks on top.

To decorate, I created assorted clay embellishments, inking each with Brilliance inks.

Placing the letters on each block, I adhered the clay leaves to each block.

Happy Fall.

Life is better in Flip Flops

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today with a Summer Project.  We all know that Summer is better in flip flops so I decided to create a  project featuring flip flops, the best Summer accessory.  With so many Proxxon tools available to use, this project came together quickly.

I drew the flip flops on a wood panel, being sure they were joined in one spot.

Using the Scroll Saw, I cut around the pattern.

I used the Bench Drill Press to create the holes for the twine.

The Disc Sander was used to sand the rough edges.

Then I used the Delta Sander to sand down the edges that the Disc Sander couldn't reach.  This is a great sander.  The design allows you to get into the smallest of spaces.

Now the design was ready, I painted it with Plaid Folk Art paint in Pale Yellow.

Once dry, I used a stencil with Fireworks! Shimmery Craft Spray in Tangelo.

I wanted some more texture and dimension so I placed a floral stencil from The Crafter's Workshop on the flip flops and used modeling paste.

Once the modeling paste had dried, I replaced the stencil and spritzed it with Fireworks Shimmery Craft Spray in Lilac Posies - love this color!

Nothing screams beach like sand and sea shells so I created sea shells from Makin's White Clay and a push mold, then added them to the flip flops surrounded by mini art stones and string.   I used Mod Podge Spray on Adhesive to adhere these elements and added a sprtiz over them to seal them.   Finally, I used a small Adventure stencil from The Crafter's Workshop with modeling paste above the shells and some dew drops from The Robin's Nest about the flowers.

How to create a decorative sewing panel

Hi everyone, I've got a sewing panel to share that would make a great decoration for your favorite crafter.

Supplies:
Proxxon Scroll Saw
Proxxon Delta Sander
Prima Metallique Paints
Imagine Crafts Ink
Makin's Clay and Clay Cutters
Chipboard

I started by drawing the pattern on a piece of plywood.  Then I used the Scroll Saw to cut the design.

Once the design was cut, I used the Delta Sander to sand the panel.

Wanting to create with a sewing theme, I added chipboard elements to the panel then painted everything with black gesso.

I used molding paste through a stencil in the open area, then painted the piece with assorted colors of Prima Metallique paints.

I continued adding colors until I was happy with the finished piece.

Using a script stamp with black ink, I stamped it randomly about the panel.  I also stamped some chipboard elements and added them around the panel.  A large flower was added above the dress form and some trim along the lower edge.  SEW was created from Makin's Clay and Clay Cutters.

How to Create a Fall Pennant

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today with a new Fall project.  Using an assortment of Proxxon tools, you can easily create a Fall Pennant.

Use the Kapro Measure Mate ruler to draw the pennant shape on a wood panel.

Then use the Scroll Saw to cut the pennant.

The Bench Drill Press was used to drill 2 holes in the top for the string.

The panel was sanded with the Delta Sander.

Using the 6" Swirl Pumpkins stencil from Clear Scraps, I placed it in the center then painted it with shades of orange and green.  For additional dimension, I used additional stencils around the pumpkin to create dimension.  I wanted the focal point to be the pumpkins, so I painted around the pumpkins with brown paint.

While the panel dried, I created leaves from Makin'sⓇ Clay green clay and a Leaf push mold.  I used Fireworks! Spray Ink to add color.

To create a 3 dimensional effect, I glued raffia around the pumpkin, then glued on the clay leaves.  FALL was free hand cut from felt and glued to the raffia.

A perfect panel to showcase Fall, don't you think?

Happy Fall Sign

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today with a fun new sign I've created for my house.   It was easily created with the help of some amazing Proxxon Tools.

The Proxxon HotWire Cutter is an amazing tool.  Have you tried it?  It cuts through foam like it's butter.  And the cuts are very smooth.

Using a sheet of Smoothfoam, I taped Fall in place.  Since I used my Cricut to cut Fall, I was able to select the font I wanted and then cut it at the size I wanted.

The Smoothfoam panel was 12" x 12" so for ease of working, I cut off the excess portion first, straight across the top of the letters.  I put aside the cut off piece to use for another project.

To cut, I simply guided the design around the wire, removing the tape before it came into contact with the wire.

In about 10 minutes, Fall was cut and ready for decorating.

To get to the interior of the "a", I cut through the letter.  Since I was going to add assorted embellishments, the cuts would not be a problem.

I covered the word with gesso and allowed it to dry before painting.  Using Brushed Metal Acrylic Paint - Antique Gold, I painted the sign.  Then I used a Plaid Stencil with Brushed Metal Acrylic Paint -  Copper, and Color Shift Acrylic Paint - Green Flash on each letter.

Since this sign is foam I did not want heavy embellishments.   I pulled from my stash of Prima  flowers in fall colors adding them with brads.  Then I pulled out some clay embellishments I created with Makin's Clay.

Using the Proxxon HotWire Cutter you can create any number of  personalized projects.

Thanks for stopping by.

Altered Wood Bird House

Hi everyone Steph Ackerman here today with an altered wood bird house.

Start by sanding the bird house using the Delta Sander.

Use the Pensander to get into the tiny crevices of the roof.

Paint the bird house with Plaid Coastal Paint in Sea Mist and the roof in Seal Grey.

Using a stencil, add molding paste to the roof.

Use molding paste with a floral stencil on the back of the bird house.  Once dry, place the stencil back on the image.

Add color with crafter's ink then remove the stencil.

Use a star stencil with molding paste for the sides.

Finally place a clock face stencil on the front.

Spray Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists to the roof and sides of the birdhouse to add a little glimmer and shine.

Add flowers to the front.  Die cut some leaves from Rinea paper foils and add amongst the flowers.

Finally, create birds from Makin's Clay.  Add color and adhere to the front of the birdhouse.
