Make the Perfect Rabbits and Flowers Spring Decoration Using a Proxxon Scroll Saw

Spring is in the air, and what better way to usher it in than with this rabbits and flowers decoration. This is a great scroll saw project to get comfortable with interior cuts.

Here are the supplies and equipment that you'll need:

Instructions:

  1. Download and print the Rabbits and Flowers Template. Mount the pattern on the wood blank. Cover one side of the blank with painter's tape. Mist the back side of the pattern with spray adhesive, and mount on the taped blank. The painter's tape made removal of the pattern easy without leaving any sticky residue.

  2. Cut the exterior lines of the pattern using the bandsaw mounted with the scroll saw band. This band is very narrow and capable of extremely tight cuts. Alternatively, these lines can also be cut using the scroll saw.

  3. Drill pilot holes for the interior cuts using the bench drill press.

  4. Thread the scroll saw blade through the pilot holes and cut the interior shapes using the scroll saw.

  5. Sand any rough edges. The flexishaft mounted with a sanding drum and the pen sander are perfect for sanding the inner edges and tight spots.

  6. Coat the decoration with your choice of finishes. I used two coats of white gesso, then stippled a coat of sage green acrylic paint.

How to Create Easter Eggs

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here to show you how to create Easter Eggs with Proxxon Tools.

I started by drawing egg shapes on some scrap plywood I had.

Using the Micro Band Saw, I easily cut an assortment of eggs.  I still have a lot of practicing to do, but I am pleased with how quick I was able to cut the eggs.

I used my newest tool, the Disk Sander, to quickly and easily sanded the eggs. With the speed variations, I could choose how fast (or how slow) I wanted the sander to spin.

Using an assortment of Plaid paints, I painted the eggs.

I also painted some little Easter baskets I had in my stash, then glued the eggs to each basket.

Finally, I added Robin's Nest Dew Drops on the eggs so each egg became very unique.

Then I filled the baskets with raffia and added assorted candies.

How to Make an Easter Napkin Holder

This clever Easter napkin holder is sure to be a hit with youngsters and oldsters alike. It adds the finishing touch on your dining table.

Supplies and Equipment to Make the Easter Napkin Holder

Instructions for Making the Easter Napkin Holder

  1. Select a pattern for your napkin holder. There are four different Easter-themed patterns included. I've selected the rabbit for this project.
  2. Using the band saw, cut your wood or MDF to size according to the pattern you select.
  3. Adhere your pattern to the substrate using painter's tape and adhesive spray. Cover the substrate with painter's tape. Lightly spray the reverse side of the pattern with adhesive, and mount onto the covered substrate. The adhesive spray holds the pattern in place, and the painter's tape makes removal easy.
  4. Using the professional rotary tool and drill stand, drill a pilot hole for interior cuts. Make sure that the pilot hole is large enough to accommodate the scroll saw blade.
  5. Cut out the piece using the scroll saw.
  6. Sand any rough edges with the Delta sander.
  7. Gently insert a strong floral pin into the napkin holder to facilitate painting and drying.
  8. Coat the napkin holder with a layer of white gesso.
  9. Hang to dry.
  10. When the gesso is thoroughly dry, decorate your napkin holder. I chose to napkin collage mine using matte Mod Podge. Alternatively, you could paint the napkin holder adding embellishments of your choice—be creative!!
  11. Enjoy your Easter napkin holder.

How to Make Adorable Easter Bunnies with Proxxon Tools

I think Easter bunnies are just the cutest things every!! I love to decoration with them. You'll have fun creating these adorable Easter bunnies made with Proxxon tools.

Supplies that you'll need:

Proxxon tools used:

Instructions:

I began by laying out the patterns for the bunnies on a large sheet of MDF.

Then, I used the table saw to cut the large sheet into four smaller, more manageable sizes.

I adhered a pattern to each of the four squares. Cover the surface of the MDF with painter's tape, then spray the back of the pattern with spray adhesive, and put that on top of the painter's tape. The spray adhesive holds the pattern in place, and the painter's tape makes for easy removal.

Next, to the scroll saw to cut out each bunny.

The scroll saw cut so smoothly that there was no need for sanding, so I moved right on to painting each bunny using FolkArt Milk Paints by Plaid Enterprises.

While the paints were drying I made a bow for each bunny. I cut the ribbons with the Thermocut. The hot wire cuts the ribbon and at the same time seals the cut ends to eliminate fraying. You can see the wire glowing red hot.

I used a variety of ribbon scraps and the Mini Bowdabra to make these bows. Now I'm ready to decorate for Easter!!

Easter Basket with Proxxon Tools

Hi everyone Steph Ackerman here and I've got Easter on my mind.

Nothing is more personal than creating an Easter Basket for someone special.  Each year I try to create something different from the prior year.

I picked up this wood basket then used the Delta Sander to sand the basket inside and out.  The angle of the sanding head makes it easy to get into the corners.  Then I used FolkArt ® Milk Paint in Bristol Green to paint the basket.

As the basket is deep, I used the Hotwire Cutter to cut a sheet of Smoothfoam to fit inside.

The Hotwire Cutter cuts Smoothfoam like butter.

As it was still a bit too wide, the Hotwire Cutter was able to cut off a sliver of the foam easily and quickly.

Once inside, I added some shred to decorate.

I also used the Hotwire Cutter to cut ribbon.  Did you know the Hotwire Cutter easily cut strips of ribbon too?

I just tied the ribbons around the handle.

Now just fill the basket with an assortment of goodies.

What will you create with Proxxon Tools today?

Happy Easter with Proxxon Tools

Hi everyone Steph Ackerman here today wishing you an early Happy Easter.

Supplies:
Proxxon Tools:  Hotwire Cutter
Smoothfoam

I used my Cricut to create a paper bunny in the size I wanted.  The I just traced around it on a piece of Smoothfoam.

The Hotwire cutter cuts Smoothfoam quickly and easily and there is no flaking.  The wire heats up quickly and I was able to cut the bunny out very quickly.  I like to cut away the larger unnecessary portions of the Smoothfoam while creating my project.

And this is my Easter Bunny.  I love how she turned out!

Since I had some left over Smoothfoam, I also cut out some Easter Eggs as well as part of an Easter Egg so I could nestle them together.

I covered the bunny with molding paste to give the illusion of fur, the added a tail which was a Smoothfoam ball that I cut in half using the Hotwire cutter.

While waiting for the molding paste to dry, I worked on the Easter Eggs.  The Easter Eggs were stamped, stenciled and inked before adhering to the bunny.  Assorted colors of dew drops were added for fun.  I purposely didn't add molding paste to the lower portion of the bunny because I wanted the Easter Eggs to sit flush on the bunny.

Once the molding paste dried, I applied pink ink to her ears and nose and added a large wiggly eye.  To finish, I tied a ribbon around her neck.

She is the perfect Easter decoration and the Hotwire cutter made it so easy to create this Easter project.

What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by today.
